CUTS to the police are “devastating our communities and leaving them completely exposed” a town hall chief will tell tonight’s full meeting of Bolton Council.
Cllr Anna-Marie Watters, executive cabinet member for community issues, is to call on councillors to support her motion calling on the government to address the issue.
She is urging the Conservative Party to work with Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham to “keep our communities safe and give our police forces the resources they need.”
The Westhoughton South ward councillor’s motion also calls on the council to “note that the cabinet is working within the limitations of its powers to fill the gap left by funding cuts, with the allocation of £100,000 in the 2018/19 Budget for Community Watch schemes across the borough.”
It comes after Sir David Crausby, Labour MP for Bolton North East, said police cuts had gone “too far”. He plans to put forward a question for Home Office Questions after Parliament’s summer recess.
