TENANTS from Radcliffe have embarked on a community trip to Blackpool.

A total of 38 holidaymakers from the Abbey Close area boarded a coach on Sunday for a week-long stay at the seaside resort.

Their visit will take in the popular Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Blackpool Tower, Fleetwood and other destinations.

Many of the group are members of the Abbey Close Tenants and Residents Association.

Chairwoman Dorothy Wood said: "These annual trips are important for helping people to get away.

"Hopefully this trip will help them relax and enjoy themselves.

"I was nearly in tears when they left. We have been going for years. Sadly I've had to give it a miss this time because we will be celebrating our grandson's wedding while they are away."

Cllr Paul Cropper, who represents Radcliffe North on Bury Council, went to see the group off of Sunday.

He said: "I was very pleased to see the Abbey Close TRA off yesterday on their annual trip to Blackpool.

"Although the weather was wet, everyone was in great spirits and looking forward to a fun week.

"Huge credit to Dorothy, Elaine and Bev from the TRA who have worked so hard to get it organised. I hope everyone has a brilliant time."
