One week after the body of 37-year-old Jason Taylor was found at his home in Oldham, police are appealing for anyone who saw him in the days leading up to his death to contact them.
Jason, who would have celebrated his 38th birthday yesterday was found by his mother in the kitchen of a flat on Raleigh Close, Oldham, shortly after 1pm on New Year's Day.
A post mortem examination revealed Jason died as a result of a stab wound.
Detective Superintendent Jane Antrobus said: "We are still trying to trace Jason's final movements before he died. We have a number of reported sightings of him, but I am keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or spoken to him in-between Christmas and the New Year.
"Jason's mother has been left understandably distraught by her son's death. Yesterday she should have been celebrating Jason's birthday with him, instead she is still struggling to come to terms with his death. I am determined to help give her some closure by catching whoever is responsible."
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the incident room at Ashton on 0161 856 9283 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
