An 86-year-old man was attacked on the doorstep of his hom by two thugs who stole his wallet.
The two men forced their way into the reception area of Ian Fraser Court, a block of flats in Queensway, Rochdale, at about 9.45pm on Thursday.
Once inside, they knocked on the door of the victim and asked if they could come in so they could check out the car park. When the victim refused, he was pushed back into his flat and thrown onto his sofa.
The offenders then forcibly stole his wallet, containing a small amount of cash, and fled.
The pensioner was not injured but was left badly shaken up by his ordeal.
The first offender is described as white, about 6ft tall and wearing a grey duffle coat and a dark woollen hat. The second man is described as white, about 5ft 5in tall and of slim build. He was wearing a light coloured tracksuit. Both men are said to have spoken with a non-local accent, possibly Irish.
Detective Constable Tony Anwas, of Rochdale CID, said: "To force your way into the home of a vulnerable, elderly man who lives alone and steal his wallet is morally reprehensible.
"It is the actions of two very cowardly men who clearly have no regard for their actions and the distress they have caused the victim, and all for a small amount of cash.
"I would appeal to anyone who has information to contact police as soon as possible."
Anyone with information is asked to Rochdale CID on 0161 856 4646 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
