PEOPLE in Bolton are being asked to donate blood after the winter vomiting bug and two-week Christmas break resulted in a national shortage.
The National Blood Service said it usually has enough blood to last a week, but its reserves are now down to four days due to the Christmas and New Year break.
The norovirus - the winter vomiting bug - has made the situation worse than usual by preventing many donors from giving blood.
To donate blood should contact the helpline on 08457 711 711.
