A driver who caused traffic chaos by doing a U-turn on the M60 in the rush hour after driving the wrong way down a slip road is being interviewed by police.
The 81-year-old man drove his Range Rover the wrong way down the slip road at junction nine, Trafford Park.
Realising his mistake, he then tried to do a U-turn on the anti-clockwise carriageway and collided with a Mercedes van in the middle lane.
Both vehicles spun into the fast lane causing another Mercedes van and a Renault Scenic car to crash.
All four drivers were taken to Trafford General Hospital with minor injuries after the incident at 7.30am.
Two lanes of the M60 were closed, causing traffic jams throughout the motorways around Manchester.
Officers made the road safe and it was reopened at 10.30am. The pensioner is expected to be interviewed by police later.
