Eagley 2 Freckleton 2: EAGLEY gained a hard-earned point at the weekend.
Only some superb goalkeeping by Mark Andrews in the Eagley goal kept the scoreline down to 2-0 at half-time following strikes by Steve Wittingham and Dennis Ceary.
The villagers opened the second period more positively and were given some hope on 52 minutes when Carl Grimshaw raced through the visitors' offside trap to fire home.
Gaining in confidence, the home side were rewarded on 85 minutes when the ball was scrambled over the line by Grimshaw to level the scores.
Eagley Reserves progressed to the next round of the Houston Cup winning 3-2 at close rivals Turton with Mitchell Leece and an Ashley Morris brace taking them through.
On Saturday Eagley travel to Euxton Villa and the Reserves entertain Barnoldswick Town. Both games kick off at 2pm.
