THERE is no doubt that as our roads get clogged with more and more cars every year, standards of driving have declined.
A new police road safety campaign, Drivesafe, aims to halt bad driving and bring back a little of the courtesy shown by drivers in the 1970s.
This was a time when there were less cars on the road and people just seemed to show that little bit extra courtesy to other road users.
Old vehicles, such as a 1971 police Range Rover and a classic Rover P5B Coupe, were put on show in Bolton to help back the new campaign.
All of us should support any efforts to educate modern drivers - some more prone to road rage than others - to emulate the courteous and careful manners of their predecessors.
