FARNWORTH Cricket Club professional Brenton Parchment made an inauspicious start to his Test career when he made his debut for the West Indies in Durban.
Parchment replaced injured skipper Chris Gayle in the team, and made 11 opening the batting before being dismissed by South African paceman Shaun Pollock.
West Indies were eventually bowled out for a paltry 139, but Farnworth skipper Chris Barrow is adamant that Parchment will prove to be a quality player at the top level.
"The club are very proud of Brenton," said Barrow. "We have always known he had something special. He is a level above."
