LEIGH RMI 0, REDDITCH 3: It's looking grim for RMI at the bottom of the Blue Square North after another defeat pushed them a step closer to relegation.

An uncomfortable six-point gap has now opened up between Leigh and the safety zone and, with just one win in 16 games, their survival hopes look bleak.

They did not help themselves again after a promising performance failed to bring a goal, and they suffered defeat when they conceded five minutes from time.

The Worcestershire visitors claimed victory with virtually their only shot on target in a game that, on another day, might have resulted in a much-needed victory. The Railwaymen largely controlled the game, and impressive debutant Danny Davidson had a tame header saved by Danny Lewis when left unmarked at the back post.

United defender Exodus Geohaghon was lucky to escape the attention of the unsighted referee and his assistant when he appeared to handle the ball in his own area after 20 minutes.

Lewis was called into action early in the second half when making a terrific diving save to deny Michael Oates from the edge of the area before Davidson flashed a half volley narrowly wide of the target.

Redditch sealed their victory when the ball bounced loose in Leigh's penalty area and Damian Mark emphatically swept it into the roof of the net.
