A Bolton rapper’s latest single sold out within two hours of being released.

Al English, otherwise known by his stage name Dweller, released ‘23 ‘Til Infinity’ on his own record label ‘Live from the Groove’ on New Year’s Day.

The 36-year-old from Astley Bridge both produced and provided vocals for the single which sold out of the first pressing of the vinyl in just a couple of hours.

Al says that the initial pressing of the vinyl was “testing the water” and they are now looking into getting a larger one done due to the demand.

Hip hop fans will notice that the title of the track bares resemblance to a classic of the genre – Souls of Mischief’s ’93 ‘Til Infinity’.

Al said: “1993 marks an incredibly impactful point in the golden age of hip hop. Thirty years on seems like a poignant time to reflect and pay homage to a track, an era, and the culture that has played such a huge part in our lives.

“An ode to a track originally penned on the west coast of the US, 23 ‘Til Infinity tells Dweller’s tale of navigating his early years in the north of the UK and is perfectly complimented by the ever-wise words of Nilla, an artist from Canada with roots in the UK.”

“It’s selling digitally and will be on Spotify soon too,” he added.

Further support for the single was provided by Tuff Graft, who created the album artwork, and a music video was filmed in Manchester by Bob Bell.

Cuts – the scratching sounds that can be heard on the record – were provided by DJ Simon C.

“As we make hip hop, we often have cuts in the tracks, the turntable is our very own instrument,” Al explained.

Far from a one-trick pony, Al applies his musical talents across a variety of genres.

Under his other alias ‘Allegro James’, Al also makes house music, and he could be found recently DJing at Real Axe in Bromley Cross, warming up for Hacienda legend Graeme Park.
