Greater Manchester Police (GMP) says it is "increasingly concerned" as to the welfare of the newborn baby who disappeared from along with its parents on Thursday.

Constance Marten and Mark Gordon are still missing with their newborn baby, after their vehicle broke down near junction four (Farnworth, Bolton) of the M61 on the evening of Thursday 5 January 2023.

The family left the vehicle and the motorway safely – walking to the Anchor Lane bridge which links the Highfield and Little Hulton areas.

Evidence suggests that neither Constance nor her baby received underwent medical assessments after she gave birth.

Given that they have now been missing of three days, the force has once again reiterated its appeal for information and has stressed its increasing concern for the baby's welfare - which it says is "everyone's priority".

The force is "asking for Constance and any members of the public who have any information to reach out to ensure they are safe and well".

A police spokesperson said: "Evidence suggests that Constance has very recently given birth and neither her or the baby have been assessed by medical professionals.

With it being three days now, officers are becoming increasingly concerned for the welfare of the new born baby which is everyone's priority and are asking for Constance and any members of the public who have any information to reach out to ensure they are safe and well.

"Mark was originally wearing dark clothing and Constance, who has a southern accent, was wearing a burgundy coat. The newborn was swaddled.

"Since then, officers believe they have seen a sighting of Constance in a red shawl near to Harwich Port in Essex at around 9am yesterday, Saturday January 7, 2023, before the last sighting coming shortly after at around 10am in Colchester.
