A man had to stay up all night dishing water out of his social housing home kitchen as it flooded with the problem not fixed until the following evening.
Paul Loughlin, 54, of Presto Gardens, Deane, came home on Wednesday, March 22, to find his sink leaking.
What started as a drip in his Bolton at Home flat turned into a "flood".
After calling for someone to come and fix the problem, Paul was told they would not arrive until the next day.
He was forced to stay up overnight into Thursday, emptying bowls of water out every 10 minutes.
Paul said: “I had left my pots and pans in the sink to soak and when I came in in the morning.
"My carpet by the sink was sodden, I thought it might have been the water from the sink but it was still full.
“I looked under my sink and could see water dripping down the pipe. It started as just a drip and then became a proper trickle.
“I took it all out and that’s when I rang them and they said it would take 24 hours.”
“I was up all night with a bowl, emptying it, to stop it from causing damage. It has all dried out now, because I’ve had the central heating on full, I had to turn it right up to dry it out.”
He added: “Although it might have damaged the laminate chipboard. I won’t know for a couple of months if the floor is worn out.”
Bolton at Home has apologised following the incident.
A spokesperson said: “We received a report about a leak from a copper pipe in the kitchen of one our properties around lunchtime on Wednesday, March 22.
“Our repairs team entered the property on Thursday, March 23 at 5.55pm and upon arrival replaced a washer and this quickly resolved the issue.
“Although we endeavour to attend every emergency job within 24 hours, this is not always possible, and our team got to the property as quickly as they could, we apologise for any inconvenience caused due to the delayed response time.
“We have since conducted a follow-up check, concluding that the issue with the tap has been resolved, but will monitor the situation for any further damage to the property.”
