A stage adaptation of the 1967 film musical 'Thoroughly Modern Millie' will open in Bolton.
The film starred Julie Andrews and is set in New York City in 1922 at the height of the jazz age.
Now Walmsley Operatic Society is bringing to the stage version to Walmsley Parish Hall Theatre complete with great songs, fantastic dance routines and a superb cast.
Taking the leading role of "Millie" is Catherine Hall who starred as ‘"Lois Lane" in Walmsley’s production of Kiss Me Kate and her leading man, playing the role of "Jimmy" is a new-comer to the the theatre group - Ollie Hall.
Despite the surname the two are not related.
Joe Davies who was a great success as "Buddy" in Walmsley’s last production Elf will also star along with another young new-comer Lauren Carroll, as "Trevor Graydon" and "Miss Dorothy".
Two of Walmsley’s favourite ladies, Vicki Wilson and Teresa Harper, also add to the stellar cast, in leading roles as the evil "Mrs Meers" and top cabaret performer "Muzzy van Hossmere".
Director Nora Howcroft said: "Add to this a fantastic all singing all dancing company and you have a wonderful evening of entertainment right on your door-step. A show not to be missed."
Musical director is Cath Hilton, Choreography by Lara Syddall.
The play is on from April 24 to April 29.
