Bolton's new food and drink court is taking shape with more businesses announced for the complex.

The Bolton News reported last week that Heron Foods had opened its doors on Wigan Road.

Now other businesses are close to moving in to the units.

The complex is on the site of the car park for the former Stags Head pub on Junction Road, which has been sitting empty since the boozer’s closure in 2011.

The site has been redeveloped to host multiple food and drinks outlets.

Greenhalghs are to move in next door the supermarket.

And now, other businesses have been announced to fill the units which currently stand empty.

According to the manager of Heron Foods, Ben Jones, the unit directly next to Heron Foods is set to become Greenhalghs.

The Bolton News previously shared the news of the bakery’s relocation back in April and it is now set to offer baked goods to residents in the Deane area.

Next to the Greenhalghs unit there will be a Smash Burger takeaway said Ben Jones, manager of Heron Foods.

Takeaway, Paratha Stop has already got signage up and a Turkish Restaurant is set to open.

Ben said: “Next door we are looking to have a Greenhalghs, next door to that there will be a Smash Burger place, Paratha Stop is due to open and apparently at the end there will be a Turkish restaurant.”

Heaton and Lostock councillor, Andy Morgan, said he welcomes the new facilities.

He said: “This has definitely been a long time coming, obviously due to the issues with power, but it is another retail outlet within the area which is becoming quite retail-y now with the opposite shops, so it can only add to the ambience of the area and the quality of the food outlet.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming everybody to the area.

“I employ about 50 people in this area, and they have all agreed that they are happy with it, particularly Heron, because obviously with the current cost of living crisis it is a really good quality outlet that is quite affordable so they’re looking forward to that and once they find out about the eateries, they will be really pleased, I think.

“I think people will be really happy about it because there are takeaways across the road from it and a few more different outlets yet to come, so it is really becoming really kind of retail-y around this area which is welcome, and this is quality precinct with good parking provision so yes, it is good.”
