A Strictly Come Dancing star will be leading a record breaking attempt.

Graziano Di Prima, who appears on the hit show will be at the AO Arena in Manchester to lead a word record attempt of over 2,000 people dancing at one time doing the salsa to raise money for a children’s charity.

Philip Hurst from Westhoughton and Hurst Dance Studio will join the event on February 16 to lead a warm-up and entertainment dances alongside the world record attempt.

Money raised from the sponsored attempt will go to children's charity Child Bereavement UK.

The Bolton News:

Philip, who runs his own dance studio in Hindley, said: “It’s a great cause for child bereavement and I’m excited to be leading some dances and getting everyone dancing.

“I am very excited, and I think it’s brilliant to do this for a children’s charity, especially as we like to do our charity events as well.

“Children need support when losing their parents and they need someone there for them so it’s great to do this.”

Philip is well known in the dancing community and in the Strictly Come Dancing circles as he has already joined the strictly stars at the London Dance Nights, chosen by Oti Mabuse.

Philip said: “I have always been an advocate for children’s charities and have been teaching children for 27 years since I started.

“Kids can have it tough, and I have also seen the big difference in children’s mental health since covid.”

Anyone can go along as an audience member or a dancer for Philip’s half time entertainment show while Graziano will be teaching a 30-minute salsa dance show.

Although 2,000 people alone are enough to create the new word record, it is hoped 10,000 people will come to the show.

Philip is bringing 200 of his own dancers, who found out only recently they would be taking part.

He said: “People just want to feel special and to be a part of that is amazing because dancing brings people together.

“The dancers only found out last night and some of these kids have watched people like Ariana Grande and Harry Styles on the stage they themselves will be now performing on.

Philip ended 2023 by leading dance workshops at the Blackpool Winter Gardens, a most prestigious event for any dancer.
