A Bolton woman experienced a ‘horrible’ flight back to the UK after three people caused a scene on a flight from Egypt.

A flight from Hurghada on December 16 at 10.22pm to Manchester Airport was diverted back to Hurghada after three passengers caused a disruption.

Police met the aircraft on arrival back to Hurghada and passengers were taken to hotel rooms with meals before being flown back to Manchester the next morning.

A spokesman for EasyJet said: “We can confirm that flight EZY2252 from Hurghada to Manchester on 16th December was required to divert back to Hurghada as a result of three passengers onboard behaving disruptively.

“The aircraft was met by police on arrival and the flight was delayed overnight as unfortunately the delay led to the crew exceeding their safety regulated operating hours.

“EasyJet’s cabin crew are trained to assess and evaluate all situations and to act quickly and appropriately to ensure that the safety of the flight and other passengers is not compromised at any time.

“Whilst such incidents are rare, we take them very seriously and do not tolerate abusive or threatening behaviour onboard.”

“We did all possible the minimise the impact of this disruptive behaviour for all other customers and arranged hotel rooms and meals as well as transport to and from the airport for all passengers, who were flown back to Manchester the following morning.

“The safety and well-being of our customers and crew is our highest priority and while this was outside of our control, we apologise for the inconvenience this will have caused.”

 

The passenger said: ““Just over an hour into the flight the captain said we had to turn back due to ‘technical issues.’

“After the announcement a woman at the back of the plane where I was sat started kicking off with the stewards about ‘you have to tell us what’s wrong.”

The passenger said they waited a long time for hotel rooms and by the time they got them, they barely got an hour’s sleep before having to be up for another flight.

The woman said: “People were fuming, how can they put one of the trouble causers back on the flight?

“It really was horrible to watch the air stewards getting that abuse and it shook them right up.”
