THE Rotary Club of Horwich staged a Christmas party at Horwich Parish Primary School for local school children.

As well as entertainer Smylie the Clown, pictured, the well-attended event also had a visit from Father Christmas who gave all the children a present.

The enjoyable party came at the end of a busy year when Horwich Rotary members worked tirelessly to benefit the local community.

Their activities included sponsoring a day of outdoor activities at the Anderton Centre for local children and the Young Achievement Awards recognising he amazing achievements of young people in Horwich and Blackrod.

They also put on an annual party for senior citizens, ran the KidsOut scheme and supported events like the Rivington Pike Fell Race and Ironkids.

Further afield, Horwich Rotary also provides funds to help victims of world-wide disasters and this year purchased portable generators to help the people of Ukraine.
