'Stunning new images' have been released showing how the completion of  multi-million pound development will create a 'bright and brilliant' Bolton town centre.

Work is currently taking place on Deansgate as part of a plan to regenerated the centre.

Developers Placefirst have now released artist impressions of how its  £35 million “Deansgate Gardens” plan, opposite the former Beales department store, will look once completed.

Work began in 2023 and the finished project will include 167 new private rented homes with new public and commercial spaces built over what was once a car park and several abandoned buildings.

Placefirst CEO David Mawson said: “These stunning new images of Deansgate Gardens offer a new look into our first contribution towards a bright and brilliant future for Bolton town centre.

“We are immensely proud to be delivering such a transformative scheme, one which will deliver a community of much-needed new quality rental homes right in the heart of Bolton town centre.

“As placemaking specialists, our goal is always to create sustainable new neighbourhoods that people benefit from and take pride in, and we will achieve just that with Deansgate Gardens.”

Mr Mawson and his colleagues say that the name Deansgate Gardens is inspired by the area’s commercial and retail heritage dating back to Victorian times.

Placefirst say they consulted with Bolton Council and with members of the public during the town’s Food and Drink Festival when deciding on the name.

“Attracting more people to live in the town centre is a key part of our regeneration strategy, and building quality long-term rental properties like Deansgate Gardens will help us achieve this goal.

“The new name reflects the important heritage of this particular site, which will once again become a bustling and vibrant neighbourhood in the town centre.

“The latest images show how impressive the finished development will be, complementing the many other projects which are transforming Bolton into and even better place to live, work and visit.”

The project is expected to be completed in Summer 2025.
