A man from Bolton is set to be brought before the courts charged with a range of online child sex offences.

Police say that Hugh Nelson, 27, has been charged with 11 offences and remanded into custody.

He will appear before the courts to enter a potential plea at a later date.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Following an investigation led by GMP’s Online Child Abuse Investigation Team (OCAIT), a man has been charged with 11 offences.”

Nelson has been charged with three counts of encouraging the rape of a child under 13 and one count of attempting to incite a boy under 16 to engage in a sexual act.

He has also been charged with three counts each of the distribution and making of indecent images, and one count of possessing prohibited images.

Nelson, of Briggsfold Road, Egerton, has been remanded into police custody and will be brought before Bolton Magistrates Court on Tuesday March 12.
