There were plenty of characters in Bolton this week as young people celebrated the joy of reading.
Children and adults alike dressed up as their favourite fictional character to mark World Book Day on Thursday.
Parents have sent us some brilliant pictures of their children depicting some of their favourite characters which we have put in the gallery.
World Book Day is celebrated in more than 100 countries around the world including the UK and Ireland.
The first event in the UK and Ireland took place in 1997.
The theme for World Book Day 2024 was "Read Your Way" for children are more likely to enjoy reading when their choices are championed.
A special World Book Day supplement will be included with your The Bolton News next Wednesday featuring some of the best dressed characters in Bolton on World Book Day.
