This very old photograph shows a store which for a time was arguably one of the most popular in Bolton.
Richard Moyle’s was based in Crompton House at the corner of Great Moor Street and Bradshawgate.
It was the town’s best known fashion emporium for more than 80 years before closing in 1960. At one time it employed more than 60 staff including sales assistants, dressmakers and milliners.
The premises were later home to John Willie (Furnishers) Ltd.
