A Bolton vet surgery is appealing for help to find a cat that jumped out of a carrier as it was being taken into the surgery.

Vets4Pets in Bolton put out an appeal on its Facebook page after a black and white cat named Bronz, which was going to see them to be neutered and microchipped, escaped.

The practice is now asking for information from residents to help find the cat.

In a Facebook post, Vets4Pets said: “Please can owners in the area of our practice be on the lookout for Bronz pictured below.

“He sadly escaped his carrier outside the practice on the way in today to be neutered and chipped.

“He then made his way onto the bowling green, but we are now unsure if he has travelled further.

The Bolton News: Missing cat

“If anyone thinks they may have seen Bronz, please let us know as soon as possible. Our contact number is 01204 308700.”

Vets4Pets has already spoken about the importance of microchipping cats, as they found a cat two weeks ago which died but was not microchipped, so the surgery was unable to contact the owner.

A spokesman said: “We have unfortunately not had an owner come forward yet for the male cat mentioned in the post from 09/03/2024.

“With the new microchipping law coming in on 10/06/2024 we are hoping this will make a difference, as it is much easier to reunite cats who are microchipped.”

Previously, an injured and dirty cat was brought into the centre, but because it has not been microchipped the centre had to find it a new home.

Charlotte Wilding at Vets4Pets said: “This cat was brought to us June 2022, he had been a stray for a while and kept desperately trying to enter the home of the person who brought him in to be scanned.

“As they lived on a main road, they were also concerned for his welfare.

“He was not in a well state, he was unneutered, unchipped, he had bad teeth, diarrhoea and a runny nose.

“The finder had done work to locate the owner, knocking on doors, putting up posters and using Facebook in an attempt to locate his owners.

“We did continue the appeal along with them to locate the owners but sadly we were unable to.

“He received treatment here and was neutered, microchipped and vaccinated and found a new home, he's now called Dutch and has a happy life in his new home."
