A Manchester hotel has been named among 35 of the UK’s best for £150 a night in a new list by The Times.

Introducing the list, The Times said: “Each year our Times Travel experts scour the UK for the very best hotels, visiting hundreds of properties to narrow the selection down to 100 for our annual Best Places to Stay guide.

“This year, more than any other year, price was front and centre in our thinking: where are the exceptional properties that offer real value for money? The answer might surprise you.

“In a list of 100 top hotels, more than a third will cost you less than £150 a night. They’re spread across all four corners of the country and, while being characterful, welcoming and charming, they won’t cost the earth.”

Whitworth Locke in Manchester made the list, ranking in seventh place.

What did The Times say about Whitworth Locke?

The Times said: “The transformed 19th-century cotton factory with 160 hip bedrooms, in Manchester’s civic quarter, mixes the best bits of a conventional hotel with the convenience of an Airbnb.

“Even the smallest studios here feel spacious, thanks to the factory’s grand Victorian dimensions; so there is plenty of room for king-size beds and storage.

“Downstairs is the lively and fun Peru Perdu all-day restaurant, with a South American focus: expect ceviche as well as ribeye steaks. It also sells veg boxes if you want to make use of your studio’s fancy kitchen.”
