A well-dressed man stride purposefully along Bradshawgate in Bolton in 1960 seemingly oblivious of the camera.
The two signs on the right might help give you an exact location of where this picture was taken - they are advertising the prices for the Lido Cinema. The railings were directly in front of the cinema entrance, possibly to stop crowds spilling out into the road.
The Lido had opened in 1937 and also host a number of pantomimes - in 1947 Laurel and Hardy performed there. It would later become the Studio Cinema, the Cannon Cinema and ultimately the ABC closing in 1998 and being demolished eight years later.
Look to the left of this photo and there are some Bradshawgate businesses you might remember including Bullough’s TV and radio shop.
