Now that’s what you call a decorating project!
At first it’s difficult to work out what is going on here - perhaps the sign towards the top of the picture will give you a little divine inspiration.
This photo was taken in March 1981 when Bolton’s historic Victoria Hall was undergoing a £30,000 facelift.
A huge network of scaffolding was erected to within a few feet of the ceiling to allow work to be carried out.
Services were held in the nearby Walker Memorial Hall while the decorators got to work on the 1,325-seat hall
