A Porsche was confiscated after its driver allegedly attempted an illegal U-turn.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers seized the car last night following the motorist's alleged unlawful manoeuvre, on Oxford Road, Rusholme.

With the driver having reportedly received six points in less than two years since they passed their driving test, the Porsche Cayenne was repossessed by the force.

A spokesperson for GMP said: "This driver was Porsching his luck after a cheeky U-turn despite traffic signs in front of a GMP motorcycle unit.

"Driving less than two years, will face a ban due to six points.

"Vehicle seized. We know its hard for new drivers to get cheap insurance, but perhaps not the right car."

It comes just a day after a McLaren, worth six figures, was seized by GMP.

The luxury super car was confiscated by police this week after appearing to have been driven with no insurance.

A spokesperson said: “The driver of this McLaren was stopped by GMP Motorcycle Unit earlier this evening.

“Unfortunately for the driver, there was no insurance shown on PNC and the car was seized under section 165.”

The luxury car was seized as part of “Operation Wolverine”, a police initiative which aims to make the roads safer across Greater Manchester.

Last year more than 10,000 illegal vehicles were taken off the roads around the city region as part of the operation.

Officers claim that operations like this have helped to reduce fatal collisions on the roads and motorways by around 20 per cent since 2021.

Anyone with any further information or concerns can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.

Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
