Police have ordered a house to be closed off after reports of “disorder, criminal activities and anti-social behaviour.”

The closure order for the house on Brierfield Avenue, Atherton means that anyone but the tenants, emergency services and council officials are banned from entering.

The order was brought in collaboratively by the police with Wigan Council and will be in place for the next three months.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “This action follows reports of disorder, criminal activities, and anti-social behaviour linked to the property, significantly impacting local residents quality of life.

“The order prohibits access to the premises for all individuals except the tenants, Wigan Borough Council representatives, and emergency services.

“Effective from April 25 2024, the order remains in force for three months.

“Greater Manchester Police will be enforcing the order and anyone found breaching it will be liable to a fine, imprisonment or both.

“Our commitment to enhancing community safety remains steadfast.

“We encourage continued collaboration and urge residents to report any concerns regarding anti-social behaviour or criminal activities.”
