THE future of Bolton’s town centre skate park will be decided today.
Officials from Bolton Council will meet to decide whether to extend temporary planning permission granted to the park 12 months ago.
They will be presented with two options; to decline permission and pave the way for its closure, or extend the permission by three years.
In making their decision, councillors will consider a number of objection letters submitted by local business owners.
They will also take into account letters in support of the park, sent by skaters who use it regularly.
Yesterday skaters said that if planning permission was not extended, they would be forced back on to the streets.
Ashley Davies, aged 17, from Farnworth, said: “If the skate park gets scrapped we will just go back to the town hall square.”
