LESS than a year after planning the “perfect” wedding to his partner Kim Seddon, Tariq Munir is arranging her funeral.

The “bubbly and wonderful” 38-year-old died in Fairfield Hospital, Bury, on Sunday, September 22, with her husband at her side, after a short battle with cancer.

Mr Munir said: “She was an amazing person, so bubbly, so much personality.

“Everyone knew her. We’ve had so many sympathy cards, many from people I’ve never even heard of.”

Mrs Munir, a nursery manager at Bolton College, first battled cancer six years ago when a cyst on her back was diagnosed as melanoma — skin cancer.

She received treatment and was given a clean bill of health.

The picture shows the couple on their wedding day last October, just a few months before Mrs Munir’s cancer returned.

She began suffering from severe headaches last Christmas and at first thought it was a cluster of migraines.

Earlier this year, Mrs Munir was given the devastating news that her cancer had returned and she had a brain tumour as well as a further growth at the top of her spine.

Mrs Munir, a former Smithills Grammar School pupil, had surgery to remove the brain tumour and radiotherapy and chemotherapy, but the cancer spread.

She was admitted to hospital and died shortly afterwards.

Mr Munir said: “She was extremely brave. She had a reasonable quality of life with the help of drugs, but the pain was getting too much for her.”

The couple met about 10 years ago while they were both working at Bolton College.

They became a couple at Mr Munir’s 40th birthday party at his home in Summerseat.

The couple were “very happy” together — a situation enhanced by the arrival of son, Jahn, four years ago and daughter, Rosie, two years later.

Mr Munir, who now works in public relations for Greater Manchester Police, said: “We always did everything the wrong way round, so last year we decided to get married.”

Her funeral is due to be held at Christ Church, Walmsley, on Wednesday, at 2pm, followed by committal at Bolton Crematorium. The family have requested donations to Cancer Research and the NSPCC in lieu of flowers.
