It must have seemed like the perfect holiday getaway for the 10 men who were selected to take part on When Women Rule the World.

Asked to spend their time on a tropical island with a bevy of beautiful babes, there can’t be many red-blooded males who would have turned down the opportunity.

However, when the so-called alpha males taking part in the series finally arrived at their destination, they were somewhat surprised to find things weren’t going to work quite as they expected.

The eight ladies had been granted absolute power on the island, and mastery over its new hunky male residents.

The men were expected to obey every instruction and fulfil every whim of their mistresses, or run the risk of being ‘sacrificed’ and finding themselves kicked off the island.

For a group of men used to being top dog, it was challenging enough keeping their well-honed physiques and egos in check - let alone suffering the indignity of being told what to do all the time.

However, if they wished to stand any chance of walking away with the £30,000 cash prize, they had no choice but to button it and keep the women on side.

Luckily for the viewers, things haven’t been too sedate, and the men haven’t taken the women’s rule lying down.

As presenter Steve Jones explains: “Within minutes of their reign starting, (the women) had already told one of the men to dig his own grave. This is just my opinion but in the early days of their rule I felt I witnessed some very male-type behaviour from the women.

”They were very aggressive and they took on an almost tyrannical rule, but in their defence, the men made it hard for them as every female order was met with resistance. God, it was so good to watch.”

The past few weeks have seen bitching, back-stabbing and betrayal in full swing, while scraps, pranks and the occasional conspiracy have also been the order of the day.

With tensions high among both sexes, alliances have been forged and broken among the two groups. The contestants have fought to attain and hold on to power, and all have done their best to ensure they won’t get the boot and lose their chance to walk away with the prize money.

However, the final episode is now at hand and before the end credits roll, someone will learn that they are £30,000 better off.

For their final challenge, the women instruct the three remaining lads to create a lasting commemorative landmark to honour their female rulers, before they gather to decide which of the men is most deserving of the cash prize.

However, you can never predict how these types of shows will go in the end. Anything can still happen, and fans will have to watch right up until the last moment for the victor to become clear.

Will the ladies have one final surprise in store?
