WHEN pub managers Mark Robinson and Samantha Powton had to cancel their wedding plans, it turned out not to be the end of the world.

For the couple, who work and live at Bolton’s Watermillock Toby Carvery were able to tie the knot there instead.

Mark and Samantha were forced to cancel their big day in the Lake District in June because it clashed with their move into the pub, in Crompton Way.

But the pair later discovered that their home and workplace also had a licence to stage weddings and decided to take advantage.

Mrs Robinson, aged 35, said: “We were disappointed when we cancelled our wedding in the Lakes, but we had a reality check rather than getting carried away with the romance.

“We knew that the pub catered for weddings in the function room and then found out it had a wedding licence.

“We decided it would be lovely to hold our wedding here instead.”

They managed to arrange everything they needed for the wedding in one weekend.

The couple met four years ago when they were working for a company which sold timeshares.

Mr Robinson, aged 42, was working as a manager in Lancaster, while Mrs Robinson was a sales representative in Lichfield.

They met when Mr Robinson spent a week at the office in Lichfield and the pair hit it off.
