A RANGE of activities were put on to celebrate the opening of a new church kitchen.

Line dancing, crafts, games and a choir entertained visitors at New Chapel United Reformed Church, New Chapel Lane, Horwich, on Saturday.

The High Sheriff of Greater Manchester, Edith Conn, who donated £600 towards the kitchen refurbishment project, was welcomed back for the opening.

The event was also attended by the deputy Mayor of Horwich, Cllr Sue Denton.

Linda Potter, church leader, said: “It was a fantastic event and was well attended, we must have had at least 100 people over the day.

“There were lots of things going on to entertain people and everyone enjoyed themselves.”

The kitchen has been dedicated to Brian Wheatley, a church member who had been involved in the refurbishment but died last year.
