LOUISIANA singer songwriter Mary Gauthier will appear at the Met, in Bury, tonight.

Given up by her birth mother and raised by adoptive parents in Thibodaux, Louisiana, Mary Gauthier's childhood was chaotic. Her adoptive father was an alcoholic, her mother wrestled with depression, and at fifteen she stole her parents car and ran away from home.

She spent her sixteenth birthday in detox and her eighteenth in a Kansas City jail cell.

Three decades on Gauthier has been a professional musician for over 10 years, and has released five albums. Support comes from Texas singer and fiddle player Carrie Rodriguez.
