CLAIMS from wishful thinking rival fans that Spurs might be docked points for playing an ineligible player against Wanderers on Saturday have been blown out of the water by the FA.
The argument goes that Wilson Palacios should still have been subject to a two-match ban for collecting 10 bookings as a Wigan player.
One of the two games the Honduran missed following his transfer from Latics was the Manchester United FA Cup tie – for which he was cup-tied anyway.
But a quick check with the FA revealed that Spurs were in the clear.
“Even though he was cup-tied for the Manchester United game, it still counted towards his suspension,” a spokesman said.
