A VENTILATION firm which supplies councils and housing associations throughout the country is changing its sales tack to guide it through the recession.

Bolton-based Advanced Ventilation believes it can generate business out of the housing market slump.

As the recession continues to bite, many businesses are looking to diversify and broaden their operations.

Advanced Ventilation, which supplies and fits Drimaster anti-condensation units, is looking to diversify by selling its specialist anti-condensation/mould units to homeowners.

The firm made the decision because it wants to take advantage of the fact that fewer people are moving home, choosing to improve their properties instead.

Though it has sold into the private domestic market in the past, the company, based in Hypatia Street, has concentrated mainly on supplying and fitting its units in public housing projects.

The company has also been busy building up a reputation for installing Drimaster units in new- build homes and apartments for private builders. While it still works for councils and housing associations around the country, the housing slump has prompted a rethink of its sales policy following an increase in inquiries from homeowners.

Director Danielle McCann-Brown says that since the housing market slow-down, the firm has had more inquiries about its system as more people look to stay in their current homes and carry out improvements.

She added: “Due to the downturn in construction we are looking to promote the products that we sell for the private house market.

“The unit we have is ideally suited for properties, especially single-glazed properties, where condensation and mould can be a big problem.

“Our units are not dehumidifiers, we liken them to a car demister. You turn them on and they force air around the house and the condensation disappears.”

The units are placed in the loft and the outlet hose is over the stairwell which pumps air down and through the property. The company says the units cost just 1p a day to run.
