FIRMS have been learning how new fire safety laws will affect their business.

The overview of changes to legislation was given at the first networking event organised by fire protection company the Parr Group, based in Bolton.

Two retired borough fire commanders gave a short briefing on how new laws will impact on the provisions companies have to make to keep within the law.

The launch evening, held at the Lounge 10 bar brasserie in Bolton town centre, attracted more than 30 representatives of local businesses and organisations. Brian Lawton and Ian Blackledge, partners in the Parr Group, were pleased with the attendance on the “first night”.

Mr Lawton said: “Ian and I were really pleased with the turnout and response and I think many of those attending found it useful and made some good contacts. Lounge 10 was great, the food was very good and we are already looking forward to our next event.”

The second networking evening is on April 23, again at Lounge 10.
