LANCASHIRE have been awarded £2.65million by the North West Development Agency to help with the ongoing redevelopment of Old Trafford.
The cash will be put towards a £70m upgrade of facilities, with the aim of staging an Ashes Test match against Australia in 2013.
The club are currently exploring their options with regards to alternative venues for county cricket over the coming seasons.
But the new look Old Trafford will be complete before the Aussies arrive in just over four year’s time.
Ashwell Prince’s inclusion in the South Africa squad for next week’s third Test against Australia is not expected to affect his stint as Lancashire’s overseas player.
