Primeval (Saturday, ITV1, 6.15pm) One of these days, the Primeval team will come across a prehistoric beast that wants to do nothing but give human beings a cuddle, and maybe even sort out the recession.

Today isn’t one of those days. When the team arrive at a hospital after an anomaly alert, they quickly discover that a small anomaly has let through a colony of burrowing Diictodon now busy chewing through electric cables in the walls.

Abby manages to capture one and use its alarm call to attract the rest back through the anomaly, but it closes, leaving two of them behind, so these are left in the charge of Connor and Abby.

If you’re one of the select few who don’t know chapter and verse on the Diictodon, we’re here to help. They were a very common type herbivore that lived about 255 million years ago. Although they lived before the dinosaurs they were more closely related to mammals — hence their mammal-like behaviour.

So, there you go.

Live Golf: The Masters (Sunday, BBC Two, 6.55pm) Gary Lineker introduces coverage from the Augusta National for the final time this weekend, as the leaders take to the course in search of one of the most coveted prizes in world sport — the Green Jacket.

Many famous names have proven to be masters of this course down the years; none more so than Jack Nicklaus, who claimed this title on no fewer than six occasions.

Arnold Palmer won the tournament four times between 1958 and 1964, while Tiger Woods also boasts four wins to his name, and entered this year’s tournament as favourite to add to that list and move to within one of the ‘Golden Bear’.

Woods returned to the game following an eight-month injury lay-off at the Accenture Matchplay Championship in March, and was back on the winning trail just four weeks later as he won the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Florida.

The Gadget Show (Monday, Five, 8pm) The team, who are joined by former Live & Kicking presenter Gail Porter, go football crazy with three challenges based around the beautiful game this week.

For their first task, Jason Bradbury and Ortis Deley select two of the best HD camcorders on the market and attempt to capture the action from the sidelines of Woking Football Club, with Gail judging their efforts.

Next, Jason and Ortis try out crowd gaming. They go head-to-head, each with a football team behind them, to play a virtual 90 minutes. The game software uses motion sensors to translate movements picked up by a camera pointing at Jason, Ortis and their teams.

Finally, the pair try to outdo each other with a selection of bling gadgets only a Premiership footballer could afford.

Plus, James King explains how to find the best films on demand at home, and Gail compiles a list of her top five favourite bits of free software.
