American Gladiators (Saturday, Sky1, 6pm) While we have to make do with Ian Wright and Caroline Flack presenting the British version of the combat show, viewers across the pond are being spoilt rotten as legendary wrestler Hulk Hogan and Muhammad Ali’s daughter Laila, who is a professional boxer in her own right, introduce all the action.

We can’t even boast about having Wolf among our ranks because those pesky Americans have their very own growling muscle-bound warrior of the same name. Here, he and the other Lycra-clad heroes, including Hellga, Justice and Toa, take on another batch of contenders who deserve praise (or a psychiatric evaluation) for agreeing to step into the ring in the first place.

As you would expect with the American version on which the British series was originally based, it’s bigger, flashier and some of the events are wonderfully ludicrous. Having said that, it’s must-see TV for kids and those of you who refuse to grow up.

Chris Moyles’ Quiz Night (Sunday, Channel 4, 10pm) He might have a face for the radio, but the portly Radio 1 DJ has proved looks aren’t that important when it comes to tasting TV success.

His quiz show has been like a breath of fresh air since it first aired in March and heaven knows what we’ll do with ourselves when the first series comes to a close in a few weeks’ time.

For those of you who’ve not had the pleasure of watching this topical contest, the format is simple. Chris is joined by three celebrity guests who answer questions on the week’s news in order to win a prize donated by the broadcaster himself.

The loser, however, is faced with the unenviable task of singing out the show along with the all-female house band. Each week, a celebrity quizmaster joins the fun and ensures cheeky chappy Chris and his celebrity cohorts do not step out of line.

In tonight’s episode, Chris is joined by another three of his showbiz chums.

All the Small Things (Tuesday, BBC One, 9pm) It’s a wonder anyone has time to do any singing in this drama series about rival choirs — the members lead such colourful lives, they can barely fit in the practices.

This week, it’s Monica’s turn to take the spotlight when her brother Edgar suffers a fatal heart attack while celebrating his 60th birthday in rock ‘n’ roll fashion.

She isn’t the only one with a reason to grieve him though, as it emerges that Ethel was also his sister, but hadn’t spoken to her sibling in over 20 years because of a secret family rift. However, Ethel isn’t about to let a little thing like that stop her storming in and trying to take over the funeral arrangements — which could prove tricky, as Edgar’s will turns out to contain a very unusual final wish.
