A LATE Bradford Park Avenue goal broke FC United’s hearts on Saturday, and their chances of another promotion.

The Rebels were all set to take their place in the UniBond Premier Division play-offs after Adam Tong had put them into the lead in front of more than 3,700 supporters at Gigg Lane.

However, an 85th-minute Bradford leveller, scored by Mark Bett, consigned Karl Marginson’s men to another season in the division.

Meanwhile, a miserable season for Leigh Genesis ended on a high note when, for the second successive game, they surprised play-off contenders to snatch a stunning win.

Leigh were already relegated to the Unibond First Division North, but they dominated the game and went ahead in the eighth minute when Tom Ince’s cross was superbly headed home by Jack Dorne, who is on loan from League Two neighbours Bury.

Hednesford equalised in the 61st minute through Elliott Durrell, but 13 minutes later Genesis retook the lead in bizarre fashion when Hednesford goalkeeper Stuart Brock panicked when receiving a backpass from Cedric Abraham and virtually gave the ball to Dorney, who calmly slotted home the winner.
