Formula 1: The Spanish Grand Prix — Qualifying (Saturday, BBC One, 12.10pm) If you ignore all the backstage shenanigans and petty point-scoring, this year’s Formula 1 season has been the best in years.

Sure, watching Lewis Hamilton scrap it out down to the wire last year was great entertainment, but this season’s championship is the most wide open in many a moon.

And today’s action is a must-see for fans. After an eventful first four races, the 2009 Formula 1 season moves to Europe - the first stop is Barcelona, where Jake Humphrey is on hand to present live coverage of qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya.

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen put in a blistering final lap in qualifying to earn pole position in last year’s race, which he went on to win in comfortable fashion. And with the circuit known for its difficulty in overtaking, a good performance in today’s qualifying will be crucial for the leading contenders in this year’s championship.

Angels & Demons Movie Special (Sunday, Five, 12.30pm) Summer is almost upon us and while that means the TV will be taken over by Big Brother, Wimbledon and the Ashes, it also means the year’s hottest blockbusters are about to arrive at the cinemas.

Among the most eagerly awaited is Angels & Demons, the follow-up to The Da Vinci Code, which is released in the UK this week and sees Tom Hanks reprise his role as Harvard academic Robert Langdon.

The good professor must unravel the mysteries surrounding a secret society whose actions threaten the future of the Vatican.

This half-hour sneak preview goes behind the scenes of the film, featuring clips from the movie and interviews with Hanks, Ewan McGregor and the rest of the cast.

The Gadget Show (Monday, Five, 8pm) Road testing the latest gizmos and gadgets seems like the best job in the world, so is there any wonder why Gadget Show presenters Jason Bradbury and Gail Porter always have smiles on their faces?

This week, the pair visit Weston-super-Mare beach to test some of the best wind-powered racing gadgets technology has to offer.

Battling 35mph winds, Gail rides the Blokart, a three-wheeled buggy with hand-controlled sail, while Jason races in a mountain board, which is a skateboard/snowboard hybrid propelled by a wing-shaped sail.

The pair then put two of the latest and most rugged cameras on the market through their paces by using a highly powerful wind and rain machine to discover if they’re as tough and waterproof as their makers claim.

Meanwhile, Jon hits the road with singer/songwriter Katie Melua to test the very best in high-spec car stereos available on the market, and the winner of the Ultimate Gadget Chair is announced.
