THE moment a receptionist from Bolton had her “fashion fixed” by top TV stylist Gok Wan will be aired to the nation tonight.

Shoppers in Bolton were given a sneak preview of Barbara Taylor’s crimes against fashion when Gok hung her entire wardrobe on a washing line in the Market Place.

The Weight Watchers leader was stunned when Gok turned up to surprise her at the town’s shopping centre.

He was filming for the new Channel 4 series of his hit show, Fashion Fix, in which he transforms a failing fashionista.

Barbara, a self-confessed shopaholic, who celebrates her 57th birthday today, said: “They tricked me on the whole day when they were filming.

“I had to walk up Deansgate in Bolton and not look at the camera and all of a sudden Gok jumped out and said ‘Hi girlfriend’.

“We then went into the Market Place and I looked down and saw all my clothes. I didn’t realise I had so many.”

Gok secretly trawled through her home in Smithills to find four wardrobes all stuffed with clothes.

After hanging her wears out in public, Gok then treated Barbara to a full makeover.

She said: “We had three days filming in London with Gok and it was amazing, like a fairytale. Gok was fantastic — so genuine, it was like shopping with a friend.”

One of Barbara’s friends, Bev Shepherd, was there to see Barbara’s new look unveiled. She said: “It took a good 15 years off her age.”

When Barbara returned home with her new look, she said her family did not recognise her.

“My son and husband, Garry and Bryan were gob-smacked. Garry was in tears,” she said.

Barbara will be watching the show with her family tonight, with a slice of birthday cake.
