FLIXTON produced a last-day shock with a two-wicket victory over champions Walshaw.

The bottom club’s pro, Rudi Kieser, turned in another impressive all-round display, taking 3-33 as Walshaw were all out for 168 — Jamie Pilling scoring 55.

But Kieser was outshone by Mark Hughes who took 5-44. Kieser then scored 38 and Nick Moors 35 as Flixton completed a memorable victory despite the best efforts of Darron Foy who took 6-63.

Darcy Lever finished 24 points behind Walshaw in second after a 98-run victory at Elton.

Nick Fawcett scored 59 in Darcy’s 189 while Jamie Stone took four wickets, three of which were caught and bowled.

Victory would have given Elton the fifth Lancashire Knockout spot as Edgworth lost at Daisy Hill in a dramatic finish.

Peter Walters hit 69 in Edgworth’s 214-7, Daisy pro Anwar Ul-Haq taking 4-75.

Daisy openers Ul-Haq (39) and Craig Atherton (56) put on 92 but the game swung Edgworth’s way in a seven-over spell towards the end when they scored just 14 runs and lost four wickets to leave them needing 31 runs in the last four overs. Up stepped matchwinner James Mann who hit nine runs off the last five balls of the game.

There was another tight finish at Standish where Adlington needed one run off the last over. David Bowden took two wickets and conceded just one run to ensure a tie, Adlington’s second of the season.

Majid Majeed took 5-17 as Standish hit 109. Simon Trim scored a crucial 44 for Adlington who moved up two places to fourth bottom, improving significantly on their bottom-place finishes in the last two seasons.

Daniel Salpietro hit 110 not out and then signed as pro for another season at Atherton.

Spring View’s 191-8 (Iain Critchley 37, Josh Gilluley 3-17) proved no problem for Atherton who won with nine wickets to spare, Matt Lilley hitting an unbeaten 57.

Little Hulton beat Blackrod to third place with a five-wicket victory over Golborne.

Ben Slater hit 45 in Golborne’s 189 and Little Hulton pro Hasnain Abbass scored 88 not out as Little Hulton wrapped up victory with 23 overs left.

Blackrod beat Astley and Tyldesley to finish two points behind Little Hulton. Pro Asela Jayasinghe scored 92 in Blackrod’s 188 while Jimmy Cutt took 7-42, including a hat-trick, before scoring 58 in A&T’s 163. Jayasinghe took 4-15 and Matthew Stears 3-28.
