A TEENAGE girl died after a car smashed into a coach. The girl, aged 16, was taken to hospital but died a short time later. Three other people were seriously injured, including another 16-year-old girl who remains in hospital with critical injuries. The car, a Ford Focus, collided with the 35-seater coach at about 9pm on Sunday on the A6 Blackrod bypass near the junction with Station Road.
Firefighters had to cut off the roof of the car to free passengers from the wreckage. The coach was carrying around nine passengers at the time, but they escaped with minor injuries. Police are appealing for witnesses to call them on 0161 8567201.
