A THREE-year-old boy had to be freed by firefighters after he got his leg stuck in a climbing frame at a playground.

The youngster was playing in Station Park, off Winter Hey Lane, Horwich, at about 3.30pm yesterday, when he became trapped.

His mum and uncle called the fire service after their attempts to free him failed. Firefighters had to dismantle the climbing frame at the park to release the boy.

Crew commander Paul Rushby said: “He was a brave little soldier, trapped for about 20 minutes. He was getting quite distressed because he was about two or three foot up off the ground.

“His uncle had to hold him up until we got there, so he did a really good job.”

The youngster was eventually freed unhurt and firefighters rebuilt the climbing frame afterwards.
