BOLTON Wanderers Football Club is backing a charity ball organised by a teenager in memory of his dad.

Daniel Winwood, aged 15, of Walkden, is planning the event with his mum, Rachel, after his father, Paul McKewan, died of a rare heart condition in 2004, aged 30.

The ball will take place at the De Vere Whites Hotel at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday, November 28, in aid of the British Heart Foundation. Tickets are still available for the Winter Wonderland- themed event.

A spokesman for Wanderers said: “Daniel has been through a difficult time losing his father and it shows maturity and responsibility to help organise such a great event and be thinking about raising money to help other people.

“I really hope people will buy tickets and support Daniel and his family, having a great night out while raising money.”

Miss Winwood, aged 33, said: “Paul was a wonderful person and it was terrible for someone so young to be affected by this.

“I am grateful to Bolton Wanderers for backing us and I really hope people will come and support us and the British Heart Foundation.”

The money will go towards research and the children’s heart appeal, which aims to raise £113,000 for a 3D echocardiograph machine for Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

The evening includes a Bucks Fizz reception, meal, raffle, auction, a band and disco.

Tickets, priced £30 or £250 for a table of 10, are available from Miss Winwood on 07530 545566.
