UNION representatives will meet with company bosses tomorrow in a bid to end the ongoing Bolton bus strikes.

First drivers have been on strike for the last two months, walking out every Monday in a row over pay.

Company bosses and union representatives finally broke the deadlock earlier this month after they agreed on a new pay deal, but the deal was rejected last week in a drivers’ vote.

Talks are due to resume tomorrow.

The drivers’ union, Unite, had advised workers to accept the latest offer, which would start with a 0.6 per cent pay increase in 2009, linked to improvements in staff productivity.

This would be followed by a 2.5 per cent pay increase in 2010 and a two per cent pay increase in 2011, linked to the retail price index.

Drivers started the strike action because they were angry that they were given no pay rise this year, despite the company making £134 million profits last year.
