A COMPANY given the task of providing steel fire doors for the UK’s first low energy call centre has delivered on the £1 million deal.

The contract for Booth Commercial, an operating arm of Booth Industries, was part of a massive £92 million project to build a base for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), owned by Hewlett Packard.

The 300,000 sq ft data site is based at Wynward, near Stockton-on-Tees.

Booth Commercial, located in Lecturers Close, Bolton, was awarded the contract by Interior Service Group (ISG).

It involved the supply and installation of coated stainless steel fire doors with electrical locking and monitoring systems.

The Bolton business worked closely with Frontline Security Services on the project at the design and installation stages.

Barry Gregson, product manager of Booth Commercial, said: “This is the largest contract we have won to date and it’s been great to work with ISG, which is one of the most professional contractors we have ever worked for.

“We supplied a new UK- compliant product for the project which we’ve spent 18 months developing and testing with Teckentrup GmbH.

“It is a German firm which is our strategic manufacturing partner.”

He added: “This product has proved its worth in the EDS scheme.

“Using these new doors we were able to take advantage of Teckentrup’s fully automated assembly line and turn doors around extremely quickly, meeting very tight project deadlines.”

Paul Pompelli, ISG project director, said: “Booth Commercial has met and exceeded what was expected of them, so much so that we awarded the company trade contractor of the month.

“I look forward to working with them in the future on further schemes.”
