Police are still hunting a burglar who stole a pensioner's credit card that was later used to buy goods worth thousands of pounds.

Sometime between midnight on Sunday 12 July 2009 and 2pm the following day, a burglar broke into the home of a 74-year-old woman on York Street, Leigh and stole her purse, containing her credit card.

The card was used about 40 times to buy products worth more than £3,000 between Monday July 13 and Thursday July 16, Images were released in July of the man using the card, but to date, nobody has come forward with information.

The card was mainly used in the Leigh area, but purchases were also made at the Trafford Centre and retail parks in Bolton and Wigan.

Police Constable Danny Ritchie, from the Volume Crime Team at Wigan, said: "Not only has this woman's home been invaded, her credit card has then been repeatedly used to run up a huge bill.

"Burglary is an awful and invasive crime that can have lasting consequences for victims.

"We are determined to find the person responsible for this offence and bring them to justice.

"I would appeal to anyone who recognises the person in the CCTV image to call police as soon as possible."
